Made New Zines - City Text

Earlier this year, I made a zine titled Great Night Life featuring extracted images and texts from advertisements for hotels, discos, bars and restaurants in the United Arab Emirates from What’s On magazine,  from issues published between 1979–1986. 

I now have a new set of zines that I launched at Sharjah Art Foundation’s art book fair Focal Point which ended yesterday, at the Great + Everlasting stand, a collective run by Azim Al Ghussein and my brother Khalid Mezaina.

City Text is the title of a new series of zines, the first two are titled
City Text: Free Palestine (A5 - 56 pages)
City Text: Viva Viva Palestina (A5 - 44 pages)

Both feature photos of graffiti, stickers and flags showing solidarity and support for Palestine (and a few that show a lack of support) found during my travels to Vienna, Berlin, Amsterdam and London between October 2023 and November 2024.

For the past few years I’ve been posting ‘city text’ photos here on the blog - you can find them in the Travel section and my aim is to print these photos as a series of zines.

Aiming to have the City Text zines stocked in a few bookshops soon,  but I the meantime if you are interested, please get in touch.
