Beyond Borders/Time Regained

Sinisa Vlajkovic - Father Figure I, Tripoli 200

Sinisa Vlajkovic - Father Figure I, Tripoli 200

The Empty Quarter is exhibiting work of two photographers merging boundaries between East and West.

Sinisa Vlajkovic, born in Serbia, discovered that, although culturally and geographically different, Lebanon and Syria held the key to a passage in time back to his own childhood during the 1970s and early 1980s. I have seen Sinsia Vlajkovic's work before at Gulf Photo's first Slidefest last October and I really liked his work and loved the connection he found linked back to his childhood memories in places he least expected.

Frederic Lezmi set out on a journey between Vienna and Beirut, searching for the blending spheres of the European and the Arab world, as well as his own identity as a German with a Lebanese father.
