Blue Christmas by Michael Koresky and Casey Moore

Blue Christmas by Michael Koresky and Casey Moore is a video essay which looks at melancholy in Christmas films. It touches upon the long dark winter, which makes it relevant to the Northern Hemisphere. I've always wondered what Christmas is like in the Southern Hemisphere. Does a sense of melancholia exist in places that celebrate Christmas during the summer season?

Hope you enjoy this short video essay and to everyone celebrating Christmas, hope it's not as blue as the title suggests.

In this original video essay, Michael Koresky and Casey Moore investigate the longstanding tradition of bleak midwinters at the movies (A Christmas Carol and It's a Wonderful Life are as sad and scary as they are, ultimately, elating), and we take a closer look at three of our favorite, if lesser-known, ones: Mon oncle Antoine, My Night at Maud's, and A Christmas Tale.
