Boxpark NDSM Amsterdam

Over a year ago, I wrote about Boxpark Shoreditch in London, the 'world's first pop-up mall' made from shipping containers. I have not visited London after Boxpark Shoreditch opened, so I've not had a chance to check it out.

This summer, Boxpark will open its second space, Boxpark NDSM in a former shipyard in Amsterdam.

The former NDSM shipyard is a world apart. NDSM distinguishes itself from many areas in Amsterdam and even in the rest of the Netherlands because of its historic character, location and concept.

The former shipyard is in a process of transformation. NDSM seethes of cultural and commercial activities, of people who want to contribute to the region and to each other.

Boxpark NDSM aims to be a "multichannel mall offering retail, online shopping and click and collect", but the space will also host events and combine retail and entertainment.

Here's a video with Roger Wade, the CEO of Boxpark explaining why he chose Amsterdam and how the world of retail is changing.

I'm very curious to see what this new space will be like, and hope I get a chance to check out some time this year.
