Cinema Akil - Where We Dwell film screenings in October
Where We Dwell is the theme for Cinema Akil's new season of film screenings at A4 Space in Alserkal Avenue between now and March 2016.
What is home? How do we define or locate it? Is it a place? A condition? A person? A feeling? Where We Dwell poses these questions through a selection of films that interrogate the concept of home, belonging, leaving and arriving, structures and space, taking a closer look at how and where we live.
The series offers an array of perspectives, exploring the concept of home through five lenses: as a theatre for life; a cause or purpose; a feeling or an emotional state; a built environment; and an idea that arises in the absence of place.

Ethan Edwards, returned from the Civil War to the Texas ranch of his brother, hopes to find a home with his family and to be near the woman he obviously but secretly loves. But as the quest goes on, Martin begins to realize that his uncle’s hatred for the Indians is beginning to spill over onto his now-assimilated niece. Martin becomes uncertain whether Ethan plans to rescue Debbie...or kill her.
