Ecological Footprint in the UAE

The Emirates Wildlife Society has launched a campaign called Al Basma Al Beeiya (or The Ecological Footprint) to support a federal initiative aimed at inspiring people in the United Arab Emirates to reduce their individual footprint, currently the largest in the world.

The aim of this campaign is to get the UAE residents to recognize the scarcity of natural resources, the need to live within resource means and to understand the environmental implications of their lifestyle.

I really hope we see some positive changes happening here soon because the amount of waste we witness on a daily basis is appalling.

On a separate, but related note, if you are reading this and live in the UAE, please take part in the climatechangeuae.com survey. It's part of a research study a friend is working on which will hopefully offer new insights for policy makers if and how our coral reefs stand a chance in the decades to come. It's a short survey and will take around 10 minutes of your time. The survey is open till 4th June.

We've built the tallest building in the world, now let's focus on trying to reduce waste, act responsibly and leave a positive footprint.
