Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai

Jameel Arts Centre

Jameel Arts Centre

Jameel Arts Centre is a new independent art institution that opened its door to the public on November 10. Founded and supported by Art Jameel, it is located in Jaddaf Waterfront.

In September I wrote about the state of art and culture and said not enough time is given “to build an arts and culture legacy in Dubai” and Jameel Arts Centre is a much needed contemporary art institution that couldn’t have come sooner. This looks like it’s here to stay and it’s already attracted visitors, young and old, residents and tourists.

James Arts Centre is open 7 days a week from 10am - 8pm (extended to 10pm on Fridays) and free to enter. You can easily get to it by car or metro.

There are 10 gallery spaces, an arts library and resource centre, 7 desert gardens, commissions, studio and events spaces, a restaurant and a shop with a small cafe. A restaurant is expected to open in April. There is also an outdoor sculpture park adjacent to the the building.

These are the current exhibitions and events taking place at Jameel Arts Centre:
