Making Zines

I spent most of Ramadan last month making zines, thanks to an online zines workshop with Andreas Laszlo Konrath organised by Tasweer Photo Festival (a photography biennial in Doha that started in 2021).

I’ve been wanting to make zines for a while, so I was glad an opportunity came up to learn more about zines and make some - a process that I found enjoyable and relaxing, almost therapeutic.

These are some I made and you can see a few of them in person if you can visit the exhibition in Doha. Looking forward to making and sharing some more.

The results of the workshop by all the participants will be exhibited during the last week of the festival, May 13 - 20 at M7 in Doha. More details here.

Tasweer Photo Festival has collaborated this year with two brilliant photographers and zine-makers, Adriane De Souza and Andreas Laszlo Konrath, to train and inspire photography practitioners in five sessions to turn their works into zines. Andreas Laszlo Konrath led an online workshop with participants from Yemen, Egypt, Cyprus, Greece, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates, who have gone through the history of zine-making, techniques, and examples, and they have created their zines printed and bound in Doha.
