RIP Vangelis

It’s been a while since I listened to music by Vangelis and the news of his death made miss hearing his music playing loud.

In 2011, Vangelis was in Qatar for the opening of the Katara Ampitheatre. Now I wish I had gone because it was probably the nearest opportunity I had to have seen him live.

He was interviewed on Al Jazeera where he talked about his career and the commodification of music and artists.

Many are sharing his well known soundtracks, like Chariots of Fire and Bladerunner. So I’m sharing a few here that don’t get mentioned often enough, plus a few of his music from the late 1970s when I think I became aware of him.
