Spiro in Dubai on 22nd and 23rd October 2013
Spiro is a contemporary acoustic ensemble that have been performing together since 1993. After researching them, this is the best description I can find about them,
Spiro are an engaging, experimental acoustic band from Bristol who defy categorisation. They play violin, mandolin, accordion, guitar and cello, make use of traditional English melodies in many of their intricate compositions, but are definitely not a conventional folk band. (via The Guardian)
Spiro will be in Dubai on 22nd and 23rd October, brought to us by the British Council and The Fridge. They won't be here just to perform, but will also run a workshop and be part of a panel discussion that will examine the role of traditional folk music, both locally and internationally, in today's music scene.
I am quite curious to see what will come out of the panel discussion and looking forward to watching them live.
Here's the detailed schedule.
