Tennis history with Isner and Mahut

I am posting this to mark a historic moment in tennis and Wimbledon history. The first round match between John Isner (USA) and Nicolas Mahut (FRA) went on for 11 hours 5 mins over a span of three days. It started on Tuesday, 22nd June and ended on Thursday, 24th June - ending on the first two days because of bad light. The last set was the most epic tennis anyone has ever seen and the final score of this match was 6-4, 3-6, 6-7, 7-6, 70-68. Yes, if you missed this match, this isn't a typo, the last set went up to 70-68.

John Isner won the match, but to all of us, both are winners, both are tennis warriors. This match has broken all records and is the longest tennis match ever played. I can't imagine anything like this will ever happen again.

The two battled it out till the last minute. I only caught the match towards the end on day two and was extremely jealous of anyone in Wimbledon on Court 18 watching this match. They were witnessing history in the making and this will be talked about for a very long time.

It was only fitting to have a small ceremony after the match ended to mark this event. The umpire Mohamed Lahyani was given a gift for his role in this amazing match and both Isner and Mahut were asked to collect their gifts at the same time. Lahyani, Isner, Mahut - we salute you for making tennis history.
